May
{123}
Can you believe it is already May? The school year has flown by and it is almost to an end, however, we still have a lot of work to do before we end the year. The students in room 18 have a lot of work ahead of them. We will begin the month with NJ ASK testing beginning on Monday, May 7th and ending Friday, May 11th. Please make sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast. Also, be sure that your child gets to school on time. Students are allowed to enter the building at 7:45 am and the late bell rings at 8:05. The students in room 18 work very hard, so I am sure they will do their very best on the test. J
Math
In Math during the month of May, we will be concentrating on classifying plane figures such as, polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals. We will also work on finding perimeter and area. The students will use manipulatives and math games to help them gain understanding of these skills. They will work independently, with partners, and with groups to help them to practice the skills they learn as well...
Social Studies
In Social Studies, the students will continue learn about Early America. They will learn about the Plymouth Colony, the Mayflower Compact, and they will also learn how the Dutch and French found colonies in America. The students will summarize the information learned by performing plays, keeping journals, and answering detailed questions.
As you can see, May will be a very busy month for us, but I’m sure the students of room 18 will enjoy every moment!
