May has sprung up from our April showers and brings NJASK4 into our classroom.  Please make sure that your child is on time to school during this week as testing will begin first thing in the morning.  Getting a good night's sleep and eating a healthy breakfast is extremely important as well.  The first two days of the week are devoted to Language Arts, followed by two days of Math and one day of Science testing.  Homework will not be assigned in Math or Science during this week.

Please keep an eye on the calendar this month.  The 22nd of May is a half-day for students and the 24th-28th is Memorial Day Holiday when school will be closed.

It may be the last semester, but that doesn't mean we are finished learning.  In May our final math project will be assigned designed around what we have been learning about fractions.  Science will continue with Unit A and Living Things. Non-fiction can be a difficult topic for some students and I recommend a daily review of the lesson.  Feel free to read ahead as well to get a better understanding of the unit as a whole.  This doesn't mean you need to take your book home every night. Our Science text book is available on line - it will even read the page to you!

Please remember to check our class calendar for homework assignments, upcoming events, and test announcements.  Students should be bringing home their agendas each night with their work and test announcements recorded.  All tests are required to be signed and returned as well.

I strongly believe that parent/teacher communication is the key to a successful year.  Please feel free to contact me by phone, e-mail, notes in agendas, or requests for conferences.
