Library Happenings     
 
 
This month the fourth graders are learning about and practicing note taking, a skill that is important for them to develop as they begin to do more research. They will also be learning about the meaning of "copyright," as well as the many forms of media to which it applies.
 
The fifth graders have been learning to think more critically when searching online. They practiced evaluating search engines and evaluating informational websites. Soon they will be reviewing using the online catalog and finding books on the shelves to prepare them to be fully independent library users before they enter middle school.

Below are some of the "grass people" created by Mrs. Eichner's and Mrs. Abraham's students who have been learning about plants and trees.

G&T Literacy News    

The G&T Literacy students received a visit from Congressman Frank Pallone!. He came to MLK to respond in person to letters that the 4th grade students had written to him. He also spoke about the environment, an issue that is important to him, and about which the 5th grade students have been writing. Here are some photos of Congressman Pallone's visit:
