Welcome to Piscataway

Dear Piscataway Families:

Thank you for your support and assistance in opening schools for 2019-2020. It takes perseverance and dedication to get back into the swing of the school year: earlier bedtimes and wake times, homework, packing lunches, PTO commitments and much, much more. But with a successful September behind us, it’s time to look forward to what we can accomplish together to ensure a positive and effective year for all students.

The best way I know to build a positive and effective year is with honest, transparent and proactive communication. I consider effective communication to be one of the most important pillars for Taking Care of People, one of my areas of focus this year.

As a district, we’ve embraced different forms of outreach, from our Genesis Parent Portal and Schoology to help keep up to date on what is happening in every student’s classroom, to timely messages and reminders through automated voice mails and emails, to continuing information accessed through our district and school websites. More recently, we’ve added social media accounts that offer a glimpse into our classrooms, showcase special events, and allow families to share information about their schools and district.

We’re planning additional communication channels this year, reaching families in different ways. We’ll be adding more video to our social media feeds to showcase our teachers and students in active learning, so please make sure to follow @pwayschools on both Twitter and Facebook. Later this fall, we’ll launch a podcast where I can discuss district goals in greater depth. And we’ll reach out to share and support social/emotional learning as well as academics and extracurriculars.

We look forward to an inspiring year of exploration and discovery in Piscataway Schools. Thank you for supporting our students and schools.

Sincerely,
