September 2016 Message

September 6, 2016

Dear Piscataway Students and Families:

Welcome back to school! I hope you had a summer filled with quality family time, outdoor adventures, and lots of great books!

I hope your summer prepared you for an inspiring school year as we continue to reflect and embody the theme You, I, We Inspire. We will continue to work together – students, teachers, staff, administrators, Board of Education, and parents – to inspire each other to be our best selves.

Helping to lead the way in our Inspire initiative are our ten Teacher Achievement Coaches. Funded through a state grant designed to empower outstanding educators with high quality training and resources, our Teacher Achievement Coaches were trained during the summer. They will share skills in fostering intellectual engagement, creating effective assessments, and using assessment data to drive instruction with other teachers within the district. Piscataway is one of only 16 districts in the state who were chosen for this competitive program.

We also celebrate the work of teachers who were awarded Piscataway Education Foundation “Inspire Grants.” These grants reward outside-the-box thinking in education with funding for programs, new technologies, and hands-on experiences that may not be covered under the annual school operating budget. I look forward to enjoying many moments, competitions, concerts, and other events throughout our schools and district this year. I hope to see many students and parents at these events, supporting each other every step of the way.
