Children’s Corner Preschool will be celebrating Black History Month throughout February with classroom lessons, activities and special events. Preschoolers will learn about differences, equality, perseverance and believing in yourself. Teachers will use inspiring stories such as “I am Enough” written by Grace Byers, “The Skin You Live In” by Michael Tyler and “The Colors of Us” by Karen Katz as well as lessons to teach their class the historical account of African Americans who made a difference in American History. Each preschool class will learn about an influential leader in the Black community and contribute pictures and artifacts to our “Black History Museum” based on historical African American figures. The students’ work will be displayed throughout each of the schools for all to view. A virtual “Black History Museum” will be created and shared with the community.
