June 2018 Message

Dear Families:

Safety Is Our First Priority

As the school year winds down, know that all existing safety measures continue to be enforced. This includes visitor screening, camera surveillance, a zero-tolerance approach to weapons and social media threats, and unannounced backpack searches. We are in constant communication with the Piscataway Police Department. The safety of our students is the most serious priority in our school district.

For the 2018-19 school year, the Board of Education has allocated $1 million for improvements to public address systems, security camera upgrades and additions, double-door vestibules, and visitor management systems. Moreover, the Board approved an additional $450,000 for the hiring of safety officers in every school, and $275,000 to expand social-emotional learning and mental health services.

While security and emergency plans always require a measure of confidentiality, the public can be reassured that the Piscataway Board of Education and Administration are taking all steps reasonably possible to keep our students safe.
