Respiratory Illness

If your child is diagnosed with COVID-19, influenza, or RSV: sneezing graphic

• Notify your School Nurse immediately.
• Your child should stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication AND symptoms are improving.
This means your child is no longer feeling ill and they are able to participate comfortably in education and other activities as they did before they were ill. Any remaining symptoms, such as cough and runny nose are mild or infrequent. Symptoms can include; fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache, chest discomfort, chills, cough, decrease in appetite, diarrhea, fatigue (tiredness), fever or feeling feverish, headache, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, vomiting, weakness, wheezing.
• Your child may return to school if they meet the criteria above, but they must wear a well-fitting mask for the next 5 days when they are indoors at school.

Additionally:
• If your child is absent for 3 or more days, you must provide a note from your healthcare provider for the absences to be excused.
• Contact your child’s teacher for make-up work. The district does not utilize remote instruction.
