Dear Piscataway Families:

As we draw closer to the end of the year, staff at every school is working hard to create memorable events and activities for our students, within the new guidelines set by Governor Murphy. Principals will communicate with families directly about these school-specific events as soon as possible.

Important Dates to Remember
Moving forward from now until the end of the school year, the following dates and accompanying information apply to all schools throughout the District:

  • May 13 – Eid-al-Fitr. All schools are closed for students and staff.
  • May 17 – Five day in-person learning begins for all students currently classified as Group 1 or Group 2 Hybrid students. Please note, after May 17, there will be no Hybrid Option. Students who attend in-person school after May 17 must attend five days each week and cannot opt for any remote days. These students will be marked absent when not in school.
  • May 28 – Teacher In-Service. Following scheduled early dismissal, teachers will participate in professional development – no office hours will be held on this day.
  • May 31 and June 1 – Schools are closed for Memorial Day weekend.
  • June 8 – Election Day. As our schools are used as polling places, in the interest of safety, this will be an all-remote day for students and staff.
  • June 17 – Last day of school.

Parents Who Wish to Change Their Child’s Learning Plan:
As we open our schools for 5-day in-person learning, parents may wish to change their child’s learning plan. These requests will be granted on a case-by-case basis, when space is available.

  • Parents of hybrid students who want to switch their child to all-remote learning, please contact your building principal.
  • Parents who wish to change their child’s learning plan from all-remote to in-person instruction beginning Monday, May 17, please contact your building principal. Students who attend school in-person must attend school every day of the week. There will be no Hybrid Option; these students may not take any remote days and will be marked absent when they are not in school. Students will be approved for in-person learning on a case-by-case basis, as space is available. Once again, contact your building principal with requests or questions.

Sincerely,

Dr Frank Ranelli
