Schor welcomes 7th-grader back to class after health fight

Posted Date: 5/26/25 (8:00 PM)

The Schor Middle School community was so excited to welcome seventh-grader Omar Danso back to school last week! Omar had been out of school since December fighting a battle against kidney failure. He is still undergoing daily dialysis treatments and is waiting for a kidney transplant. There are several potential donors undergoing the lengthy testing process through the Cooperman Barnabas Transplant Center in Livingston. Among those happiest to have Omar back in school were his friends Nicolas Calderon, Grayson Fox, Khalil Jones, Noah Jenkins, Javin Evans Smith, and Musa Burhani. Counselor Nancy Arvizzigno and science teacher Kari Hester, who have been in close contact with Omar and his family throughout his fight, were also thrilled to have him back in class.
