Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
Dear Piscataway Families,
I hope you are doing well and that you are excited about the start of the 2025-2026 school year in the Piscataway Township School District. Our educational community has worked diligently to prepare for a safe, engaging, and effective educational experience for our children.
As the Interim Superintendent, I have had the professional opportunity to witness the authentic work that has been completed in the service of our children, district, and community. The educational experience of the “total child” has been our primary focus. Our teachers have participated in continued professional learning focused upon an enhanced literacy program, Open Court; refinement of the collaborative classroom; the development of a formal action plan for the integration and expansion of technology to support learning; and collaboration with the Piscataway Township Police Department to ensure the care and safety of our school environments.
During the summer, classrooms have been painted, and the modifications to our school facilities are on target. Interactive Promethean whiteboards will allow our teachers to enhance their classroom’s instructional and learning experience. Their ability to strengthen lesson design and instructional organization will provide our children with more opportunities for independence and self-paced learning. The completion of major revisions to the Media Center at Piscataway High School is truly innovative and is nearing completion. I have every confidence you will be proud to see how your support has and will continue to enrich the educational experience of our children.
I acknowledge the talent and dedication of the administration, faculty, and staff in their focus and genuine, cohesive, and complete preparation for the 2025-2026 school year. Although I have only served the district since April, I have seen my children’s kindness, talent, engagement, and academic progress. Those qualities also represent your care and focus as the parents and guardians of our children. Thank you for your continued support. Our district respects the power of the family. Together, we will continue to provide our children with a comprehensive academic experience.
The recent events in Minneapolis, sadly and unfortunately, cause all of us to pause and reflect. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Our response is to continue to vigilantly maintain the safety and care for our children, faculty, and staff. We have initiated additional reviews of all internal and external security structures, as well as collaboration with the Piscataway Township Police Department. We value and appreciate your continued support and diligence in maintaining contact with the district, should you have any questions or concerns.
I will be visiting schools with our administrative team and members of the Piscataway Police Department to ensure adherence to our standards for safety and security. Together, I look forward to seeing the excitement of our children and the engagement of our administrators, faculty, bus drivers, food service providers, and all our staff members as we begin the exciting journey into a new school year.
Thank you,
Johanna S. Ruberto, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent
