Districts earns Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for 9th year in a row

Piscataway Township School District has been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 9th year in a row from the Association of School Business Officials International.
The Certificate of Excellence recognizes districts that uphold the highest standards for financial reporting and transparency. Piscataway earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended 2025.
“We’re very proud that the Piscataway Township School District has been recognized for excellence in Financial Reporting for 9 years running,” said David Oliveira, Piscataway Business Administrator and Board Secretary. “This recognition represents an ongoing commitment to professional standards and transparency from our Board of Education, District Administration, and Business Office staff. Our District works hard to ensure our annual report meets ASBO International’s standards for accounting principles generally accepted in the United States.”
Superintendent Erskine R. Glover said the Certificate of Excellence is emblematic of strict standards that Piscataway Township Schools maintain in all fiscal matters.
“Thank you to David Oliveira for continuing to ensure that our district is on sound financial footing,” he said. “Much of the work of our Business Office may go unnoticed, but this recognition is well deserved. They make sure our students and schools have the resources they need to thrive day after day and year after year.”
This award once again represents a significant achievement, reflecting Piscataway Township Schools’ commitment to high-quality financial reporting, said Jim Rowan, Executive Director of ASBO International.
“For over half a century, ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting has been the gold standard for promoting and recognizing excellence in financial transparency,” Rowan said. “Clear and accurate financial reporting is crucial for engaging school communities and building their trust. Districts that earn the COE have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to these principles.”
Participation in the COE program highlights Piscataway’s dedication to financial accountability. Submitted ACFRs are rigorously reviewed by a panel of experienced financial professionals, who provide constructive feedback to further enhance the quality of future reports. Districts that meet the program’s stringent requirements are awarded the Certificate of Excellence, a distinction that also supports bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
The COE is sponsored by ASBO International strategic partner American Fidelity.
