PHS girls volleyball team earns national academic honors

Congratulations to the Piscataway High School girls volleyball team for being honored with the 2026 Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association!

To receive the recognition, the team must maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.3 on a scale of 4. Piscataway far surpassed that threshold with a 3.74 GPA. Piscataway is one of 504 girls indoor volleyball teams nationwide to be honored, as well as one of just five in New Jersey and the only team in Middlesex County.

"This award means so much because it recognizes the hard work these young women put into their education while also committing themselves to our volleyball program," said head coach Brian Tuskan. "I’m proud of this group. They continue to show what it means to compete with purpose and lead with character."

This is the PHS team’s second consecutive season of receiving this amazing honor for academic excellence.

"Winning the AVCA Team Academic Award for the second straight year is a testament to the culture of accountability, teamwork, and perseverance that defines Piscataway girls volleyball," Coach Tuskan said. "The program takes great pride in developing not only outstanding volleyball players, but also confident, disciplined, and academically successful young women who are prepared for success long after their playing careers are over."
